Website Building
Creating a website in Yola is really very easy and interesting task. Here you can build and host your site absolutely Free of cost and that too in Ad free environment. No HTML or JAVA knowledge is required. Only follow the following steps and you can be able to build a site.
1. Click here to sign up with Yola. The following screen should appear.
Fill up the Sign Up Form and click "Get Started"
2 You will be landed on the following screen.
This step is very very vital. So fill up the web form very carefully. You have to provide the name and domain(unique name of your site by which it will be identified in internet) details of your site. Choose a site name which best describes your site. At first choose sub domain of yola for hosting your site. Don't worry it is free and you can change it to your own purchased domain later on. (We have choosen the site name as " Tutorial For Web Design" and use Yola sub domain for hosting the site.) Now click on "Next"
3 You will be landed on the following screen.
Simply cilck "Close" and you will be landed to choose a template amongst various free and premium templates. Choose any one from free templates. You can change the template later on. Click on "select" and your home page will be ready for editing.
4. For editing a page, you have to know certain basic elements of editing and have to be familiar with the Menus.
Have a careful look on the above screenshot. You will find the following menues for editing
a) Edit page design- Here you can change the banner image and page background. If you are making website first time, you should keep the default design.
b) Change Layout- Here you can change the layout of a page. A number of layouts are given to choose right one for your needs.
c) Preview Page- You can view your page before publishing
d) Edit Menu- You can change navigation pattern of a menu of your site. That is, if you make sub page and want not to show that page in the menue, you can drag out that page from Menu List. This is helpful, if you create a number of sub pages under a main page.
e) Delete Page- Here you can delete a page.
f) Save- Click this button after editing to save your work.
g) Refresh Page- By clicking, you can reload a page.
h) Site Manager- Here you can re order your Menu list, rename a page and delete a page.
i) Page- You can select here to open a page for editing.
j) New Page- By clicking here, you can create a new page or Blog. While creating, provide a name of your page. The name of the page will appear in your menu of the site.
k) Change Style- By clicking it, you can change the template of your site.
l) File Manager-Here you can upload a file, image video, music etc
m) Update My site- By clicking this menu, you can publish your site.
n) Content- You will find here a number of editing tools such as "Text", "Picture", "HTML", "File", "Widgetbox" etc. To use any of these tools, simply drag it in to your page.
If you want to add text in your page, drag "Text" in to your page and you will find a text toolbar for editing your text.
Similerly, if you want to add "HTML" codes to your page, simply drag "HTML" tool in to your page and paste the cde within the box and click "ok".
o) Properties- Here you can change page properties for SEO. For more details plese click here
5. For creating a sub page, click on " New Page" Provide a name of the page. If you want not to show this page in nevigation Menu, you can uncheck the "show in nevigation" check box". In this way you can create a number of sub pages under a particular page.
6. For linking with a word or group of words, please select the word and click on "insert link" button ( you will find it in Text toolbar)
7 For inserting image, click on "insert image" buttn. ( you will find it in Text toolbar) Alternatively, you can drag "Picture " tool from "Content sidebar"
8 After finishing, click on " Update My Site" for making your site LIVE.
